I'm ok with Andrew smoking. In fact, I've always associated writing with smoking. It relaxes and sharpens the mind to creative, deep thought. It helps with memory. Its romantic. Those are some of the most important things in writing anyway, so it is a no-brainer to the question of why writers smoke. It passes time, it brings focus. It quiets the awareness to the gray space in the mind and allows for concentration.

If it wasn't so unhealthy, I'd smoke too.
