I've always been extremely picky about the body shops my car has gone to, and the alignment shop I go to knows me personally, so I go into the garage and watch them work on it. The guys at the alignment shop know to set up special ramps for my car to get on the rack.

Any time I am left no choice but to put the poor car in a shop (accident repair and alignment, essentially), it is made clear that I am watching said shop like a hawk. As a result, I tend to get good service.

And just to wrap up this fuck fest, I just picked my car up and needed a jump because the battery was dead in the parking lot.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I need to document this as it happens. I left my car overnight because they said they needed to order new lugs because they didn't have any in house. So i got my car today with a new front pad and rotor and supposedly fixed lugs and studs. I get home and notice that the three stripped lugs have been swapped from the rear to the front. So obviously they were bullshitting and I bring the car back. I talk to the fuck who lied to me on the phone called him out on his blatant lie about ordering new lugs and he refers me to the technician. The technician tries to spew some bullshit about the thread length on the lugs being too short. So i ask him are you saying that the studs in front are shorter than the studs out back and he somehow says no. So i ask him if i pull those lugs off the front wheels am I going to see metal filings? and he arrogantly responds nope I'll put it on the lift now if you want. So of course I have to see this. Sure enough he takes the fucking lugs off and the 3 studs where the bad lugs were, are now covered in metal filings and are significantly shinier than the other 2 studs. So i point that out and he says oh well it's fine i could take these off and put them back on like 3 or 4 more times and it would be fine. So i say i dont want my car to be half assed and have to worry about this shit in the future and tries to tell me its totally fine. So in the end I talked to the manager and I am getting all new studs and lugs on the left side of my car for free because these cocksuckers fucked up the vast majority of them.
Sorry for the rant but fuck it feels good to vent.

Sucks to hear about your experiences, man. Some shops ruin it for the rest of us. If I hear about any good shops in or around Rhode Island, I'll send you a PM.
that would be amazing. my family has been screwed out of few grand over the years from two particular shops who we go simply because there's no one else around. We've had 2 cars go in for new tires at the same time, 6 out of the 8 tires were put on incorrectly .

Most shops do a walk around and check for any imperfections and whatnot so that if they do damage it, both parties will be well aware.

Years ago back when I had a Cobalt SS (I know I know....) I took it into the dealership to investigate an obnoxious grinding noise (turned out to be a seized caliper) and upon getting it back I noticed a decent size gouge taken out of paint right where the door meets the quarter panel. Being as the car was relatively new at that point and I babied it, I knew it wasn't something I had done. But when I tried to point the blame at them, they basically said there was no way I could prove it and gave me a free bottle of touch up paint as a "courtesy". Big whoop.

Good luck with everything. I hope you can get it ironed out better than I did with my experience.

well just found this out today but i took my car in for new brakes in july. Today, while i was putting on the winter wheels, I found that the stupid fucks overtightened 2 of the lugs so hard on my back right hub, they just spin in place and never catch. fuck i **** shops. I tried arguing with the stupid cunt there but he said i could have done it while putting the lugs back on (even though metal filings fell out as i was loosening them)

thankfully the only thing i go to shops for is inspections, and my old car they had me drive it in and out because they didn't want to drive it due to it's height and custom body work (wasn't even that low). so i've never had to deal with it.

Only "shop" I go to is a goodyear near me that my best buddy works at, who also drives a dumped car.
