The shenanigans behind the missing "E"
"Hey bro, your sticker says "STANC|WORKS"
Yeah, it does. And it's on purpose. If the letter had just peeled off, there would be a space there where the "E" belongs, but there isn't. This sticker has actually been cut that way. Mike actually went into the program, changed the design, deleted the "E" and moved "STANC" over to get rid of the space. Why? Because graffiti.
Me, Mike and some of the crew went down to Palm Beach a couple months ago for the Formula D event held at PBIR. After the drifting was done, we all decided to hang out with Manny, Ramon, Mark P, Jonnie, Fafa, Leo, and a bunch more of Miami's cool kids to do this photoshoot- http://www.stanceworks.com/2011/06/kings-miami/
One of the locations we were going to use was this abandoned, ocean-side boat racing stadium. It has been condemned like 30 years ago, and had since become a graffiti sanctuary. The spot didn't work for the shoot, but as Manny's car is flat black, and he had a spare can in the trunk, I didn't want to waste the opportunity.
So naturally, I decided "STANCEWORKS" would be my tag of choice. I go to town, blending letters together, shadow dropping, paying close attention to spacing... and it was done. I turn to the crew with a huge, goofy grin and proclaim that StanceWorks is now official. I believe Fafa was the first to spot my mistake... "What's Stank Works?"
In my excitement and tagging haste, I missed the "E." STANCWORKS is what it read. I tried to go back and lay the "E" in behind everything but it looked retarded. Haven't lived it down since, and Mike decided I needed a custom sticker to commemorate the occasion.
