To guess the actual color from no hints would be like winning the lottery. This color existed in a place and time that is neither here nor now, on something that definitely isn't around anymore.

How can the doors be painted if the colour isnt black and is supposedly satin?

We received the X5 with front crash damage. The owner gave us the X5 and promptly disappeared, so we filed the paperwork and it became ours.

Before we started the project, we replaced the damaged front parts, which included the front fenders, with new unpainted body panels. The back half of the X5 was undamaged and retained its original black paint.

The picture of it in the shop was before Luci began sanding, just at the beginning of the taping.

It looks like this now:



And by the way, I know the exact color. I'm sitting next to the RGB and Cielab codes for the color right now.

No, but we've got another deep-cut project (one that gets touched once in a blue moon, no pun intended) that's satin blue.

The Genesis is already matte white. And that paint scheme is a horrible, terrible bitch to keep clean. We're going to have to respray it before the car show season starts.
