The bolts are e-torx, should be fine if you use the proper sized bit.

I agree with zoo, I will just paint them factory silver. I would like some input and or opinions from you guys tho: the hardware is a 6 point bolt and it's a bitch to not strip the points. I want to stick with original but would I maybe try regular 12pt hardware?

I would avoid any finishing other than factory look.

right on...how could he did that, I don't understand. Agree with Dr.AK - great work and awesome wheels, good luck.

Will you machine the star edges like this?

Hey everyone! after a long busy summer at work, out with family and house projects finally had some time to get some work done on the Speedlines.
Took the faces off the wheels, went out and got a can of aircraft remover and tried it on the lips. the result was amazing! the black and the clear bubbled off and underneath were gleaming polished lips, just as they left Speedline in '88.

Note the cool laser etched specs on the lips: Ferrari 17x8 and 17x13

after few more rounds to get rid of the patches of clear they looked like this

while i was at it i tried the faces too. the paint came off somewhat but under it was body filler.

used a propane torch ONLY on the deep part of the spoke as i was afraid to distort anything. Being careful not to damage the metal i used a painters putty knife to scrape as much of it as possible.

used a pneumatic tool and a soft wire brush to get 90% of the filler out of the spokes and dropped them off to get em blasted. rough mockup of the wheel

Same thoughts here, factory condition would be best.
Strip and check for any damage. Bondo use on a wheel is odd.
