I honestly just wanna know if this is fixable. I can deal with buying barrels if the face is repairable.

The insert isnt cracked. Only behind it.Originally posted by Byron View PostWhat they're worth and what people are trying to sell them for isn't the same thing. Idk who decided Gotti's were worth so much, but I agree that if that set was in perfect shape it would be worth $1500.
That crack in the center looks like it was caused by someone either using too large of an insert or not drilling the hole large enough for the insert. You could probably have it welded up and have someone put in a new insert and be fine.

You're on drugs about the value. I assure you, even in non-cracked condition, they are worth about half as much as you're thinking. My J55C were top-of-the-line for Gotti and even in my good specs, they are not worth $2500. G1001s are not that great as far as Gottis are concerned.Originally posted by MarcMiller View PostWell idk what your thoughts are on value but these wheels in good shape are worth about 2500$. I actually took the one wheel to a wheel specialist and he said if he welds the crack it'll prob just crack again.
The specialist is correct. There is a very good chance the face will crack again. Hence why I think these are worthless and best bet is to part them.

Sorry dude, but that's not dirt cheap, as these wheels are currently worthless. The crack in the face that goes through the lug hole and into the centerbore is structural. Consequently, these wheels should not be driven on until that is fixed by a very skilled welder and machinist. Also, selling these wheels without disclosing how bad that crack is could open you up to civil liability if an accident occurred.Originally posted by MarcMiller View PostNow i'm stuck on trying to sell them for dirt cheap (1500$) with 2 barrels needing to be replaced or just buying the 2 barrels and trying to run the wheels again.
With that said, your options are:
1) part out the good pieces of the set. considering you have small lips and its G1001 stuff, you'll probably only get ~$500 for the pieces.
2) find a wheel repair specialist that can handle that crack in the face. with the damaged barrels, too, you're looking at probably $500+ in repairs.
My thought is G1001s aren't worth $1500 in perfect condition, so its not worth spending the money you need to on them. So I'd just sell the pieces and consider it a loss.

Thats what I'm hoping to do. The only thing i'm stressing is the crack in the lug hole. I would need to buy adapters again and also buy 2 tires.Originally posted by tcturbo91 View PostIf you aren't having any luck selling, why not grab the two barrels and run them? Gotti's are one of my favorite wheels, so I may be a bit biased. If they are fixed, you have the option of running them or possibly having an easier sale. Right now neither are really an option

I have a set of gotti g1001s that i bought last year. spent all of last winter/spring taking them apart...replacing the lips from 1' to 1.5" (new lips came with my wheels)....replacing the bolts. Got them all setup and they leaked. Had my friend reseal them for me.

Finally got them all settled and drove on them for about a week. I think the valve stems were leaking slowly because i didnt notice it. Well i drove 13hrs to SOWO which is a car show in georgia and 12.5 hours into the trip the tire blew out and the barrel cracked 3 times. Now one of the barrels were already cracked and welded. Now that wheel cracked which was a left wheel...after taking off the other rear wheel i noticed that one cracked twice.

Heres one picture.
My fronts never had any issues really...inside one of the lug holes i noticed a crack. I've seen the crack but never thought anything of it honestly. Drove on the wheel and all and it never got worse.

2 barrels from rotiform are an easy fix.Tags: None
