Total nooB to running adapters or being "hellaflush" here so I could use some advice before I order tires. I have a 2002 Jetta Wagon that I'm about to put new wheels on.
I already have my wheels and adapters, but I'm a little concerned about the rears.
I am going to be running Jeep Sahara wheels which are 18" x 7.5" front and rear with a 44.45mm offset. I ordered 20mm adapters in the front and 25mm for the rear. When I bolted up the rear wheel to test fit I'm sitting pretty much perfectly flush, but that has me worrying about tires a bit.
Is this irrational?
Most likely for this whole season I'll be sitting pretty high anyway. I'm on 1.5" drop Eibach springs and some Tokico shocks right now. The plan (if this FKing car hadn't had a rash of maintenance issues lately ) Is to do coilovers eventually. Even then I'm not a fan of the idea of rubbing all the time and really compromising the driveability of the car. If I go 24" FTG even that would be pushing it.
So what I'm wondering is with the final ET would a 215/40/18 give me any issues?
Because I'm on a small and oddball width wheel I don't really have many options for tires. There are only about 7 companies on tire rack that sell 205/40/18s, and I have not found a 195/40/18 or a 185/40/18.
Realistically, it's not like I'm going to see any stretch on a 7.5" wheel anyway. So I'm debating if I go 215's instead of 205's because the tires I've priced out are 2 different models. I want to do Nankang NS-IIs but the lowest width is a 215. The Nankang AS-1s are a 205, but they are an all season with an ugly tread pattern. I'd prefer the 215s if they won't give me issues in the rear. I'll be rolling my fenders too BTW. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
