Edit. On a different note, what front lip are you running?

Its a mk3 gti lip

Just going to have to find some that aren't aluminum.

But would it be a 'bad' idea to rust them out then clearcoat them? The thought has been crossing my mind for awhile for some reason. Im not sure why.

Just out of curiosity. Has anyone purposely rusted out the center of the rims?
