  • BBS RS parts question

I'm not a regular here on the forum but I want to ask a question to the people who know wheels best. I spend most of my time on r3v to learn technical stuff and then I come here for inspiration.

I'm slowly finishing up an M50 swap into an '89 325i sedan. This spring I'll graduate university and hopefully have a real job so my car is finally going to get some much needed attention. I'm going to get a skid plate and either GC coil overs or BC Racing, some bushings, new wheels and new rubber. I am also going to do other small touch ups to the car both inside and out. If you want to check out that build thread it's http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=207322

I've had my eye on BBS RS's for a while and I really like them. The downside is they are a tad expensive and I wouldn't want to have really nice wheels on a car like this that will get a bit of a trash from time to time. My alternative option has been to buy pieces (lips, barrels, hardware) refinish them myself, and assemble them.

My question is about the price of doing this. Would it be cheaper to buy a crappy set of RS's and re finishing them (provided I can find some at a decent price) or would it be better to gather parts (ie is there a large price inflation in BBS parts) ? And I guess the second option depends on the deals you get.

    Cheers,
    Aaron
