Sneak preview of my dad's e39. He and I are working out a plan to get some wheels and coilovers for it, plus more cool stuff. I'll make a thread for it once parts start going on. First thing it needs is a lower oil pan though.
Last week I got him the Hella euro xenons and refinished the wheels. The paint job was unbelievably bad on all 4 wheels before that.
(you can see my benz lurking in this last pic, hehe)
It's a 1999, Biarritz Blue, 6 speed, sport package. 155k miles now, new motor at 90k. Dad has owned the car since the new motor was put in at the dealership.
So, since my last update, I've hit 2 (two) concrete chunks that were left in the road on construction. All I did was 'deflect' them, which scratched the outermost lip of the bumper and luckily didn't crunch anything. All I had to do was spend 1 minute with compound and apply 1 long line of touch up paint. This fiberglass Arqray has really been through a lot.
Yeah I agree about the grills. I even bought new black grills a while ago, but I can't bring myself to put them on. The color match really makes it look good.
So last night and today, I took on a little project. I realized I had 2 broken arm rests, and then realized that they could be pieced together to make a perfect 2-tone arm rest. Victory!
Old vs. new
Condition of the old arm rest
Both formerly broken arm rests, good one on the right
Inside of broken arm rest (tan base) - not sure how it got all melted and gashed up like this
Some throwback pics, all the cool kids are doing it.
2004 (taken with a potato instead of a camera,) my parents and I took it out to the black hills and mount rushmore, way out in South Dakota. Sweet roads, almost hit like 15 deer, vowed to never take a nice car there again
2005 - right after I put the wheels on, it was all salty and the wheels had never seen salt. I decided to go ahead and expose them to salt right away. LOL yolo
2006 - lowered on H&R Race springs
2007 - KW V2 coilovers and Mtech front. Drove out to Milwaukee/Chicago during the winter with this setup. ^_^
Much respect man, i feel like i will be able to show my childrens, children about THAT light green e46 on HRE's.
Thanks man. I really appreciate that. FWIW I was 16 when I bought them from a guy in Orlando. 2600 shipped. Took 2 weeks for the second pair of wheels to show up because the UPS hub in Atlanta misplaced them. That was the worst.
