this. everyone has to start somewhere. and while he may very well had done some research instead of posting ignorantly (which condones negative responses), he is asking advice from ppl who obviously know their shit. either way. pursuit of stance is fine with me

The best way to figure all this out before committing to buy something that may not work is to research research research. Find as many E46s with different set ups you can so you can hone in on the width and offset you want to go with. If you want to use your current wheels, you will need a decent size spacer and a smaller width tire. As well as going lower of course.

Tape string to fender, tie washer to end of string. Measure. Buy new wheels, lower your car come back and try again.

Seriously (all joking aside) a ruler is the best thing you can buy. Just make sure it has MM's listed on it.

    Will Do.

Your right, the best part about customizing your car is doing it to your liking...but going into a venture blindly just isn't smart.

    1) Grab ruler/tape measure.

    3) Measure that shit out to where you want your wheel to sit.
    4) Buy spacer in that size.
    5) ?????
    6) I'm not going to tell you to profit because you still might fuck it up, but that's about it.

Edit: And are you all the way down on your coils? No? Spin those down.

Once you get your final widths and offsets figured out you can start looking at other wheels in more aggressive sizes.
Thanks for suggestions and comments everyone, I'm going to start with the ruler/tape measure and buy the corresponding spacer - the spacers that are already equipped.

I'm on e46fanatics and have been for years, but since this is supposed to be the authoritative stance site I figured I would post here as well.
