    Update #1

So this all started off with the idea of just undercoating the front and rear subframes before winter and has snowballed into a full on project. The 'rents are out of town for 10 days so I have another car to use for a bit as this is my daily.

I've always wanted to go a bit lower but I was already maxed out on my coils which either led to cutting springs or getting shorter springs. After people saying there isn't a big deal with cutting springs I figured I would give it a try. Another problem was the wheel well area and for a while I didn't want to modify it but now I'm to the point where if just said "fuck it" I want to be low.

Enough with the words, time for pictures.

To start off i brought home some of my tools from work because my dad's tools are shit.

    Wheel well problem area:

Reason I deleted the front swaybar due to binding issues:

After getting creative with the air hammer and dead blow I got the pinchwelds to look like this. Gave me about 3/4 of an inch more room. Its not pretty, but I'll be painting over it.

Coils out ready to be cleaned ad disassembled so I can get to cutting. I had a fuck of a time getting this one apart but oh well.

Disassembled and ready to get choppin'

So I cut an 1 1/2" off the spring and tried to grind where it would sit on the perch as flat as possible but the metal is so hard the grinder wasn't doing much so I said the hell with it and mounted it up. That's where I ran into a snag.

The spring wouldn't sit right on the perch and I even tried to compress it some to see if that would help and it would still just slide off of the perch. There is no way in hell I would feel safe running them like this.

I called up Megan Racing and was able to order springs that are 2" shorter and a little bit stiffer. The sales person I talked to tried to get them shipped out today but it was after 5 and their shipping was closed so they won't be in the mail until Monday. Not a big deal, gives me more time to do shit.

So I went over to the right side took off the brakes, coilover, and other little shit so I could work on the pinchweld again. After doing the left side I had a good idea on how to get it flattened out and this side turned out a little better.

Again, not terribly pretty but it'll work.

Quick pic of my coilover workshop area. Pretty bawse:

Other than that I started cleaning the subframe up so I can start getting it ready for paint. I'm using this stuff called "Chassis Saver" which is pretty much the same stuff as POR 15. Clean where you want it, scuff it up a little and remove loose rust etc, and paint it on. Once its fully cured you can hit it with a hammer and it wont chip off. I chose the color Satin Black because I think it will look a little more OEM.

    That's it for now.

Hae mate, really like what you have done to the car. if you don't get some wheels, I suggest try to widened those steelies and then camber it out, cause I reckon that will look pretty dope. but its your choice.

I wish more people did this. Then again, that's probably how we have 16 yr olds with EF Civics rollin' on Rotas with 3" of poke all around.

I figure its worth a shot. In order to stay the same height i'll have to tuck some tire in the rear, but I also want a little poke, hence the stretch.

I just have the feeling I would do 8's in the rear then realize I want to go wider. I'd rather do a 10" and try like hell to make it fit. With a good pull and a touch more negative camber it'll work.

16x10 et 0 rear. 205/45 rear. I'd have to shave the fender arch and pull it a bit. Also run a little more negative camber but it would work without being mexi-poke.
