So, i put the advans on today and aside from them sinking it down about 30mm the wheels are MUCH smaller then expected!

So the rears were fine with how the suspension was dialed in, but the fronts had to come up 20mm, but sods law was i forgot my c spanners so out came the hammer and flatedge.

I got the car home from my unit which was a good 20miles with clearence on the lowest point being about 15 - 20mm excluding the splitter and suprisingly it didnt catch anything, so it MAY be suitable.

Lets see what this week brings.

Well i promised a up date so here it is.

The story goes i got her down to the mot test center and she broke the test stations record for most red sheets in a single mot...all in all 3 whole red sheets and a advisory page.

Not exactly the best result ever, but a majority of that was to do with the electrical problem causing all lights etc not to work, also the brakes decided halfway to the station to become spongey!

Anyway she was in the garage getting prepped and everything got sorted, the electrical problem turned out to be broke wires, basically putting it down to a mouse as she has been stored in a open barn for the passed year. The only problem remaining was the brakes, upon consulting with other laurel conversionists the general talk was the master cylinder is strong enough to work the 200sx calipers.

A fact my mechanic had a hard time coming to grips with, so to save time and hassle i got hold of a 200sx master cylinder (in the time window of 3 hours before the mot!!!) and installed that, hey presto the brakes work!, the only thing that still doesnt work is the radio, so right now a ipod and headphones will have to do!

So with the mot passed, it was onto japshow, then a week later it was mod live which was fun and she got a fair amount of attention!

Before mod live though i installed HID's, my awesome boso exhaust and a new front splitter, my tyres were MENT to be in time for mod live but they never arrived so no new wheels for the show!

Well thats how she sat at mod live, i took some pictures a few minutes ago to show how shes sitting at the moment.

I was ment to have my wooden steering wheel installed bvut the boss is rubbish and has chewed itself to death so im currently making a custom one!

Everyone loves the dildo gearknobs nowadays so i went with a classic, this came off a 1920's john deere tractor and i machined it to fit!

The wheels, painted a wrapped in new rubber just 2 hours ago, ready to go on when i have a spare few minutes!

Been currently getting a fair amount of attention for this though...

The best thing is though that police love it! and i dont mean 'fine me' love it, i mean find it hillarious and interesting!

Well thats about it so far, i NEED bolt on spacers urgently 4 x 114.3 fitment at least 20mm! so if anyone knows of any please let me know, i have cash waiting!

Right well i have some news.

After the supras engine let go i had to rent a garage on the same farm to be able to work on my engine in a locked, dry area with electricity so while setting all this up i was looking at the laurel and saw how neglected she looked.

She i started gathering parts up to get her MOT'able, I went to luton to collect a master cylinder, servo and alternator. It was during this time that the bloke giving me the pieces informed me i had one of 5 manual registered laurels left in the uk (according to that car regestration site thing) so i best step up.

Me and a friend pulled it out of the unit and around to the front of my garage so i could start work on it, i attached a new battery and for the first time in about 8 months tried to start her...1st time she started.

BUT the electrics didnt work until i reved the engine and then everything came on, one person said its the ignition switch and nothing works until the engine is started and another says ive fried a relay so i need to source those.

I started by changing the headlight stalk as it wouldnt turn the lights off, only to find a new problem, the indicators work, then slow down, until basically they arnt on anymore but they are, so thats another thing to sort, might be the stalk might be to do with the relay.

I also removed the slow punctured tyre and slung it in the van to be changed, and changed the shredded steering gaitors.

I also dove under the car to check the rust situation, the underneath is spotless apart from one spot around the rear towing eye thats left a hole so ill have to weld that and the bottom area of the drivers wing so im going to have to cut that off and re weld another piece on.

Anyway i was to busy with that and my breaks on the daily van deciding not to work i didnt get many pictures.

I got this one though quickly.

    She'll get done.

    Cheers jules!

Well anyway a few mates and me are off to the japshow finale on the 18th of september so the time frame is getting smaller to get the old girl MOT'ed.

After getting it out last weekend i walked around and dived underneath her to asess what to do for MOT.

One of the main things was the electrical issue but i draw the line at electrics as i am FRIGGING usless at it so ill drop it off to a mate for that.

The other issue was some areas of rot which i found on the bottom of the drivers wing...

Nasty, but when i got it off it was a whole wing, where did that corner go...

    Ah..oh dear.
It would have been easier to get the new wing but because these are so hard to come by and being so old, new panels are hard to get hold of, esspecially since the norwich nissan dealership dont even seem to know they made one..

So i got some mild steel and set to work shaping it, after it was shaped i put the wing on the car and tacked it together so it was the same shape and angle as the original.

Then i did the usual, grind down, fill, smooth, fill again, smooth again, prime etc, just need to get the paint now but its easier to do the whole wing.

    Not to bad.

The metal work underneathe the wing was quite clean though i found, so im going to give it a lick of underseal and leave it as is.

In the mean time i started to deal with the other rot hole i found in the boot.

So ive cut it all out and am now ready to weld it in next weekend.

I went back today and undersealed and stone chipped the arches, as well as greasing the brakes and fixing the steering gaitor and replacing the new tyre.

Whats left on the list for MOT (as far as i know) is :

    1. greasing the passenger bearing.
    2. Get the steering tracked.
    3. Sort the leccy problem.
    4. New wipers.

Then on to the MOT station.

    Wish me luck.

    Cheers for the replies guys.

The other day i had a really shitty dream that the 8j wellers wernt gonna clear the calipers, so early saturday morning i dragged my girl down to the yard to see if they would, and thank the holy fuck they did.

..But i need some 20mm spacers to get them to clear so its not the end of the world.

While down there i also tested my advans just to see what they would have looked like.

    Not to bad.

Also, you ever tired of having no pennies when you go that tiny bit over at the petrol station?, i fucking was.

So one day while shopping i spotted these little guys, mario mushroom sweet tins, sweets were nice but after the tin just looked to damn good to throw away, so i turned it into a penny pot for the dash.

    Nice.

Right so the other day i set about sorting the brake fluid leak.

after the master cylinder was pulled apart i discovered the offending seal was infact...FINE :/

But anyway the seal was replaced and the unit was sealed up and it should now all be sorted.

I also changed the steering wheel to the wooden one i painted earlier and replaced the helper springs in the rear with the normal springs to raise it slightly.

We ran into a couple of speed bumps along the way so there was many trips back and forth and henceforth the day got fairly short fairly quickly so by the time everything was sorted i only had enough time to test fit one of the sets of wheels and i chose the 10j steels just to see what i was dealing with.

    Heres the original steering wheel.

And the new one minus the horn.

And heres the test fit of the 10j's.

Either boso arches or jun style arches required.

    Im in favour of this.
