^^^ I love this platform. Very excited to see what you do with it aesthetically wise. Performance wise it is fast and it can only get faster. I know that much.

Cheers, and hope you enjoy it mate

Of course skipped the last show of the year per usual for me anymore. If I would have read you can leave if needed...I didnt want to be there from 9:30-4....I would have been fine. Oh well maybe next year.

Anyway still waiting on my euro trunk, hopefully that comes in soon. Air was pulled off and will be for sale soon. I may keep the management for the new car, but still on the fence on what direction I want to really go.

Some pics of the new daily since diesel is expensive and the jetta is sitting for a little.

Got bored one day and threw the air back on. It was show season after all. Took it to Loe' Show in pottstown but didnt think to register so parked far away.

    IMG-6586 by minthinrich, on Flickr

In prep for the last show of the season outside of some meets I may try and hit I ran down to One Love Auto Group to grab a set of stubby mirrors. I missed out on a black set a few months ago, but these popped up in Jazz Blue. You can see the bases were a little faded and beat up.

    IMG-6694 by minthinrich, on Flickr

I did not really plan on buying the mirrors, but another step closer to having my old Gli again in mods. Decided to pull them apart and get them on the car. Sprayed the bases with Dupli-color bumper coating which worked perfectly.

    IMG-0008 by minthinrich, on Flickr

Decided to spray the mirrors with dip for now until I have time to order paint to match the silver. The dip laid out perfectly and matches all the trim on the car so it goes well together I think. If I could have easily matched the Jazz Blue I thought about spraying the wheels for a porsche kinda vibe but black dip is cheap and easy.

Let everything dry. Mounted up on both sides and I forgot how good they can look on a car. Sure to be correct I should only have the one side (sorry its been a while I forget which is which). Anyway I had the same setup years ago on my old Gli like I mentioned. Crazy to think when I bought that set all the parts were brand new in box.

In final prep for the show I need to redo some interior pieces and I want to redo the headliner and pillars. Expect to see more pics soon.

Wow its been a long time since I updated this one. With race season over, I guess its time to recap and get current.

Few details on the air I never posted. Came up with a good spot for the controller so its hidden 99% of the time which makes me happy. Also thought to finally label which ports are for what. Really happy with my hidden trunk setup.

Enjoyed the air for a while, then got tired of dealing with a front strut leak so I threw the coils back on for a while. Results below. I think it ended up a little lower but not much.

Got into 3d printing in FDM, but had my friend make me a usb adapter for the dash on his resin setup. OEM+ look for the win.

Also ended up grabbing a new battery cover, and used tray for a smaller battery. Have yet to actually run it since I have a larger battery but once I figure out if I can go smaller (2 sizes listed factory for the diesel) I might try it. Sucks cuz it looks so good. Also threw on the period correct nuespeed intake. I would be really curious if it actually hurt the mpg at all, but I can kind of hear my turbo sometimes now so thats cool I guess.

I'd say go for it. Nothing to worry, more trunk space, and with a decent ride height, totally usable and good looking at all times.

Could always go for R32/TT front hubs to get the front down a little more! Couple degrees of camber from the arms that go with the hubs too.

I now wish I didnt get a 45 series tire all around, but I would like it to lay out. Front I can either get bent tie rods, or do a small notch to get it down the last little bit. The rear I may trim the upper bag mount but not sure how much I will really gain there. Easiest would be to get the drop camber plates but not sure on those yet. Mainly worried about needing a high rear bag pressure to lift enough.

Still slacking on the air install, ran into issues with the front upper mounts. Ended up ordering new plates which is pushing the install.

Anyway the Jetta got a new diesel sibling at the house.

So the air install has been one of my longest so far. Main issues are I am being way over critical of my work so I have had a hard time making up my mind. Also a few parts delays and family work has pushed it back. Lets do some catch up.

So my first problem was deciding where to put the management. I love the oem rubber liner, so that was the first hurdle to get past. I tired out these options as an idea.

I would have just make a slight riser and put everything on top and exposed, but then I loose the sub or it goes somewhere stupid. I like my bass.....sorry. Anyway I did not really like either setup, and figured if I loose the spare, I can hide everything underneath without raising the floor. I made a template and did a test fit which I was happy with. Honestly I don't understand why I didn't do this same thing years ago with my old GLI. I made so many trunk setups and never anything clean like this.

Decided to sell the 450c compressors to a good friend who could use them, and order a new set of 444 in black. I plan to paint the tank in the spring black as well so it should look good with the carpeted panel. Amazon lost the first set, so 1 day turned into 1 week on the compressors delaying all of this.

    IMG-5270 by minthinrich, on Flickr

As mentioned it all fits perfect under the stock trunk cover thing. I plan to do something with the sub in time, but not sure yet.

To run all the wiring, and clean up some other wires I ran I pulled the grey carpet to swap the black one in finally. It was gross on the padding, but I will deal with that once its warm again.

I should be starting on the struts, notch, trans swap, and ball joints this week.

Well I made the decision. Found a setup used locally for a good deal. I was originally going to run to Pittsburg on sunday (8 hr round trip) for a low mile set of struts and no management for 1k. I got this setup for $500 more and had to drive 10 min away. Hard to beat.

Exactly what I am going for. I wish the body was in better shape, but theres only really one bad dent.

So I decided to order some tires finally for the brocks. They showed up in a day, and my friend down the road got them mounted up right away on a sunday. I threw them on immediately. I still want to play with the fitment, but I am very happy with them.

Since I am a nerd, and had the perfect opportunity.

Also took off the roof rack for the time being. We are expecting snow anyway and if the car is outside I didnt want to deal with the rack and cleaning it off. Walking out this morning to the shop and seeing it, I really like the car now.

Debating with myself to get air or not. If I do itll be a older style setup with parts I have around for the management.
