PLAN A

My body is ready to tell you more about it.

There are many types of car enthusiasts but for now I will talk about 2 of them.

Type 1.
Buy expensive AWD vehicles and convert them to RWD. Sell and repeat.
They usually blame Audi.

Type 2.
Buy cheap RWD vehicles and convert them to AWD. Wished to sell but no one will pay them.
They usually blame the GT-R.


So I am type 2, out of the AWD closet finally. I butchered Anth’s Render to show more or less what PLAN A is all about.




This is very rough in terms of position and the ability to install the transmission on the back, if that doesn’t work I will try and make a divorced transfer setup. But more or less is PLAN A.

You can see my handsome face on the passenger seat while I was whacking the laptop, and if you put even more attention, you can see rain drops falling ( Drag surface + the lightest rain = certain death ), yet the car manages to launch very hard, yes it switches lines but you can’t blame the driver for showing off, it was the first pass ever on the car.

Now that you know my plan, now I must tell you that I won’t do much to the car till It reaches its new home later this year as I have to build a jig and a couple of things that I can’t really do where I live now.

In the mean time I will entertain you with “learning to tig weld” and “lost a finger on a CNC router”.

Not at all!, I still have one card to show about Dr. F work. I forgot about it since I misplaced at New Camaro Owner's shop, but I commissioned him to find them for me.

I have been busy assembling an integral part of this build.



I said busy assembling, nah, that was easy, only took a few days...

Learning how to use it was a whole new world.

Have you ever said - Hooooorayyy today I woke up with the thirst of knowledge! and you proceeded to research how to win money by planting crops on your backyard. You go to work and instead of doing work, you start googling backyard crops.

Then you start reading, and reading, and reading, even more reading that your eyes grow bigger and bigger and you just scroll and scroll on text without even reading just thinking this a lot of text and brain says, God this is a terrible idea, you should totally dump it and continue the actual work you have been procrastinating.

Then you watch "You can do it" videos on youtube and you go back to read.

Well that was learning CAM for me, and still is. I made my first cuts a few minutes ago.

Mind the house mess, I have been ready to move to the new house for 2 years now.


But I have good news after all.

This is what Anth, leader of the Wachati tribe has been working on for the last week.




I know it doesn't look as civilized as my original render but he made his best effort.

Send him your render needs, he is very perceptive and understood my "do something nice" requirements very well, I recommend 140%.

I was tucking 30s on the 2000.




and this was the day it was gone, after many years of sitting in the same spot as the 924 now.




Some times I miss it, but then my wife will hold my hand, totally scratch me with her ring and I remember... *smile.

I will miss his doings.

I was actually worried that seat was going to spell the end of this project.

The only thing that can stop this is my human nature, nothing material can stop me, apart from money.

I love the build so far dude

A SAD GOODBYE

Approaching the end of the dismantling job I realized that this was about to be over.

Car archeology is something I find very entertaining in other build threads but experiencing it has been a roller coaster, sometimes it made me laugh, sometimes it made me cry.

Said that, this will be the last time I find new and marvelous methods of tinkering from Dr. F.

After removing the driver seat I changed focus to the door, removing some bits of cable that were connected inside and removing the beauty panels covering the skin.

Remember how I said that the passenger door could have been fixed by an infant or chewed out by a goat?




Lets get into Dr. F. shoes for a second here and imagine what happened.

There he is, inside the car, figuring out how to make a cut to the door skin to install electric motors for the windows while eating a banana.

His work is limited by the amount of tools he has to make a metal cut, he starts with the air tools, but the compressor took a dump the day before so he goes to the electric tools cabinet.

The sawzall is battery powered and of course he did not charge the batteries, so, he brought the jigsaw, he only has wood blades but he will try anyway with ¾ of banana left.

After returning from getting an arm cast in the emergency room from his great idea of cutting metal with wood blades he sat on the car again, firmly looking at the door and thinking what options he has, he still has half banana, a bit dusty but he blows it and gives another bite.

He looks around for tools to finish the job, nothing comes to mind, then in a flash moment he sees his infant son feeding Larry, the family goat.

His brain quickly designs a master plan with ¼ of banana left.

Plan is simple; put a new wood blade in, and draw lines so his soon could follow them with the jigsaw, his arms should last enough to finish the cut.

So he calls his son.

His son, happy as ever to help his dad holds the jigsaw and asks for a line to follow while the doctor searches for a pencil.

No pencil, pen, or any marking device was available so he takes the banana and rubs it on the door using it as cut the marked area symbol.

Larry the family goat was standing by the garage door, eyes got big as it saw the doctor rubbing the banana.

There was nothing Larry the family goat liked more than bananas so he quickly grabbed traction and started a furtive run to eat the banana.

He rammed the boy with enough force to break his spine, kicked the Doctor away of the car and started chewing the door where it had rubbed banana cut area.

The doctor regained consciousness some time later, Larry the family goat was gone, his son was dead, but the job got done.

After removing the panels I took all the rest of carpet and firewall insulation, some spots of rust from the HVAC area, nothing bad really, car is in good shape all around.




You can see where the front seat bolts had windows where the nuts were introduced and threaded. I regret nothing.


And this is the last of Dr. F. ever.

As I removed the array of new fuel connections to make the car work with the carb I cut the return line and as soon as I did that, fuel started pouring from the feed side on the engine compartment.

So the car had an air pocket on the return line, I could be causing traffic jams in this car if I was a bit less desperate.




This car must have been used to smug French fries because the tank was cut and welded all around.



By analysis of the cuts I reckon that the Doctor after losing his son checked the breaker on the compressor just to find that it was off.

That guilt of killing his son made him create the monster.

That is it, good bye Doctor.
