If it were me, I'd do #1. I'm a sucker for period-correct cars, especially in a delicious black-on-red classic.

Hahaha, yea I'm really torn on this one. Ive been wanting a Ponton for a while now, but I also want a W108 and eventually a Pagoda (R121). It would be absolutely wild if I had a fleet of Dirty Penny's especially given that line-up. So many tough decisions.Originally posted by P78 View Postfuck you, i **** you and your life

Project Ponton - '59 Mercedes 190D
So I caved and bought another Merc just before finishing Dirty Penny. It's a 1959 Mercedes 190D (W121). Black w/ Blood Red interior, a really desirable color scheme for me so I'm not sure how to approach it now. The problem is that regardless of how desirable the car is from the start I get the itch to completely change it. The ideas for it are as follows:
Option #1: Respray black, re-upholster same blood red color, copper plate all chrome pieces, bags, wheels
Option #2: Copper plate the car and try to create a "twin" for Dirty Penny, maybe start a whole collection of different era's of Mercedes with the same theme and of course bags/wheels
Option #3: Silver plate the car, brass plate the chrome pieces, restore interior, bags, wheels
Option #4: Get real crazy and go the vintage race car direction, coilovers, custom fabricated suspension components, meaty tires on old german modular wheels, big motor, etc
