So the friend that I traded the 323izzle to fixed up the car some, replaced a few suspension parts and found some 14" mx-3 wheels for it. The car was also raised up to a more manageable height. Last week a cheap miata came up, $1700 or trade for a decent running car. The Miata needed a transmission but had racelands coils and a solid roll bar.
I didn't think the Miata was worth 1700 of my hard earned hockey dollars, but I did know where I could find a decent working car. I called up my friend and offered him $500 for the 323, he accepted on the condition that I found a seat for the 323 as he had ghetto rigged a sparco into the car. My friend and I headed to pick n pull and found this 323 seat.
Sorry for the terrible pictures they are all iPhone pics thus far.
My friend and I drove for a couple hours and traded the car and some wheels for the Miata.
So the Miata turned out to be pretty beat but overall solid and fairly rust free. I've talked to a miata buddy and am going to pick up a transmission for it, I already have a light weight flywheel and clutch in my living room. The green cars suspensions will be swapped for the ricelands, and the rollbar will be swapped over also. The red car will receive the stock 94 wheels and then I'll be able to mount my wheels on my car. Once the red miata is returned to roadworthy condition it will either be a drift slut, or sold off to further fund the ls swap.
In other ls swap news, I may have found the headers I'll be purchasing for the ls1.
Let me tell you a story, let's call it the 323izzle saga.
Shortly after buying the green Miata in this thread I started to think about what I was going to drive through the winter, I ended up buying a Mazda 323 with a 5 speed and 200,000 easy kilometres for the low price of $350. I changed a ball joint, bought some studded winters, and made Coilovers from the stock shocks and eBay coils, all for $200. Totw investment $550
I traded that car for my nt-01 tires, brand new worth around $800 here in moose land.
I decided I would rather have something nice to drive year round than drive beaters half the year, so I bought my legacy b4, and have been daily driving it since.
Good luck with everything man! Not the biggest fan of the wheels, but I'm gonna hold off on judgement 'till they're fitted. BRG Miatas are awesome for retrolook wheels and stuff.
