So I haven't done a lot with this thing lately, got all the glass back in and swapped out the passengers side glass (tinted non vw) for a clear vw glass to match the rest.
Refitted the door and boot rubbers and back lights .
Started tidying out the car and sorted my loom for the fuel tank, also fitted the fuel tank.
Put a pair of mk2/3 coilovers in the back just to raise the car untill its on the road moted and my arches fettled etc then i will put the polo coilovers back in.
cleaned off the penis drawings and some graffiti off the bonnet and gave it a wash.
haven't took any pictures of this but i will update when im abit further down the line.
Kinda fell out with both of my cars and have been driving my mothers spare car for work until the golf is driveable which im going to battle on with now...
to try and help me love it again i bought this, i shouldn't have as i don't rely have the money but it was cheap.
I love the kit, but the grill is kinda hilarious but im gona make some light brackets up for it and i will try it out properly in the future.
plan is get the car on the road without the kit , i will do bodywork and fit the interior properly and mod my mk3 colour concept trim (currently yellow probs die it black) to fit while im using the car daily.
After bodywork fit the kit up , i will be trimming the front arches back under the arch trims anyway for wheel clearance the wings arnt genuine so it doesn't bother me , rear arches need some work but i plan on removing the lips and welding the 2 skins together as i want to be able to remove the kit and still retain the orig arch if i ever decide to go back to stock body.
going to cut the fuel filler out and put a new panel in , i tried to save it by repairing the inner skin but made abit of a mess with me learning to weld and lack of space in there so ill chop it all out and redo it
But for now its solid at least.
Gona get my head back in this thing so hopefully see some good updates for once.

Thanks guys , means allot.
Kind words rely keep me going with this thing.
Its not to bad of shape tbh , just the usual mk2 areas which most are repaired now, inside the fuel filler was the worst managed to repair it without cutting out the outer skin.
Rear arches need some work but they arnt bad enough to fail and mot so i will be sorting those out when its back on the road. I plan on cutting them up quite abit to get more clearance so i can run it at the height it currently is....
Also the wheels are nothelle classic N's 16x7. ive got the center caps but i need to redrill the mounting holes as i had them welded up (muppet i got them off had snapped the caps off as he didnt have the center cap tool :/).
I should have a mk3 tdi fuel tank and the correct clutch m/c at the weekend so hopefully get those fitted and be a step closer to firing her up.

That thing is gorgeous. If you think that was a crappy MK2 you gotta take a trip to America. Fred Flinstone rotted out floors, completely trashed panels, and flares make up 90% of them here.

finished up the exhaust which is just made from bits ive had lying around.. crap homemade decat downpipe , clamped to a 2" center section from my missis old 3.5 cabby to midbox and backbox from my mates old carrado (2.5") i welded a reducer into the midbox to join it to the center pipe. Needs the hangers tweeked to get it sitting right and away from the floor a little but it will do for now. i had to dint the backbox to clear the wheel well. ill probs cut the midbox out in the future but its on and will work for now
started putting the loom and dash back in , modded the dash to take the mk3 tdi clocks which match the engine.
also nipped to my parents and dragged the last of my car stuff out of there loft.
leaving my unit end of june and need this built and moted for then idealy.
need to pull my finger out

Got alittle more done on the mk2 , progress is slow from lack of motovasion and time with me working on my house in my spare time also. But its getting there
got my timing locks and timed the engine up with new belt and tentioner
cleaned the floor up around the axle bracket mounts and fitted a set of beam relocation plates which centralize the wheel in the arch when lowered a lot. also fitted my poly bushed beam back in along with bolting the suspension up properly (im using 6n polo coilovers which fit the same as mk2 but are far shorter so i will have more travel. I still have like 3 inch of adjustment on the rear but it will be lifted for mot and dropped again when i reshape my arches.
shoved and exhaust on from a mates old rado which will need a little tweeking but i quite like the daftness of it with the way the car is going to be.
i may **** it when its on properly but it will do for now
few units down are a bunch of lads who banger race, and this poor old volvo had took a beating
My shitty toolbox its not pretty but it does the job
abit obsessed with mango rubicon right now also
apologies for the quality of the photos im just using my phone camera at the moment :/

Had a day down the unit saturday just gone mainly sorting out the ton off parts lying around , welded a new stud on the bulkhead that has ripped off when mounting the pedal box, got my new timing kit onto the motor and motor off the engine stand ready to bolt the gearbox etc back up. Sorry for the crap update

these are some more pics ive came across from progress.
Some repairs.
Jacking points on both side as the front were rotten underneith so i cut them out plated them back up and welded the jacking point back on as this was solid.
i havent got a pic of them finished at the moment but i will ad one soon.
Then the a pillars needed some work, drivers side being in need of quite abit cutting out passangers just needed a hole welded up.
no pics of rust before
it sat like this for awile
tdi came along
since then ive finished doing a semi-smooth bay. which is painted in truck bed liner as i want to redo the chassis legs in the future if i decide to keep the car.
also ive stripped the motor down cleaned and painted some bits and im waiting on new water pump and timing kit to turn up so it can go back togeather and drop back in, wiring is done for the tdi, just need to solder a few more connections and wrap the loom and shove it down the chassis legs.Last edited by STU?; 03-10-2015, 09:01 AM.
