    Thanks guys

So tackled a bunch of things this weekend.

    Finally have two headlamp buckets.
I wish they made replacement panels for the Headlamps. However, being that these cars are pretty rare now, we couldn't source new ones. So I had to pretty much make these from scratch.

    Surprise!

Made a new inner reinforcement rear valance.
Also made this outer rear valance.

    Shaved the antenna hole.

Pulled the rear in the front rear and quarters.
Some of the chrome didn't come off so easy on the Quarter Panel windows, however others came off really well.

This side was a giant pain in the ass because all of the surrounding metal was paper thin. You can see all of the lead, and brass brazing. Some is factory, some has been repaired by someone else before.
It still needs to be grinded more and tapped down in certain spots.

Other work I did that I didn't take pictures off but you can see in the front. Shaved the front and rear side marker lamps.

Also started doing some repair in the right rear quarter. Found another giant hole. A replacement panel was ordered for me on that. As well as the replacement panel for the inner quarter.

This is where I called it quits for this weekend.

Also did a few sprayouts on Friday for a color choice

This is Aviemore Blue an Aston Martin color

    Audi Scuba Blue

    Ford Taurus SHO Blue

Left is Aviemore Blue Right is the Taurus Sho blue.

Waiting to look at them in natural sun light.

Weather also hasn't been cooperating, tried to have the car media blasted twice now. Too much snow on the ground to wet blast :-/

When you say tuck the bumpers, do you have any pictures of examples of that?

I love the gen 1 p1800 bumpers, and moldings. I would love to make a hybrid of the two cars bodystyles maybe using gen 1 bumpers, and gen 2 bodyside moldings.
Gen 1 doesn't have the side markers either that's where I got the idea from.

If your friend decides that he ever wants to sell the car having an original Volvo paint code makes it worth a noticeable amount more, but I can understand him wanting it the way that he does if it needs resprayed either way. Shaving the side markers is a great idea, that'll clean up the look of the car quite a bit. I'd try tucking the bumpers before you decide to do away with them.

    b20/m41 car?

I love this color too, but my friend wants to change it to a dark blue metallic.

I'm slowly convincing him to shave the bumpers, I talked him into the side markers... I really really want to slam this, however he's not going for it. It has real Bilsteins all the way around it, fully adjustable dampening, so it'll at least handle well.

I'm going to spray out some colors for him to approve this weekend, so then I can finally epoxy prime, and seam seal the interior, undercarriage.

Nice. Diggin the color. Since you're cutting and welding already you might do some body mods as wel? Tucked bumpers, dual exhaust exit, vent holes delete, etc

started a topic Volvo P1800 Restoration

    Volvo P1800 Restoration

Figured I'd start a thread for this car too.

Have two on going projects beside this car.

This started off as " Hey Joe can you do floor pans? "

Turned into a major restoration. As the structural rust was very very bad.

From a distance she looked nice!

When I pulled the carpet and saw this, I knew something was up...

    Fiberglass?

Floor pan...Jack rail (frame rail) Inner rocker was completely rusted and rotted away.

So thin rusty old metal with a lot of plastic on it!

Inside all the old sound deadner is removed, and most of the bad seam sealer is removed. Still have a little more prepping to do before I can epoxy prime and seam sealer the interior.

Still have lots of metal work and plastic work to do.

This car has about three paint jobs, and about 1/2 inch of plastic in some spots.
Has Solder filler, brass brazing , red lead , and lots of free rust
Working...
