Wheels not sure... Was thinking of some 17" BBS RS all around maybe, or cosmis XT-206R
That is if I can get the money! If not this year I was thinking about maybe just ordering up some wide diamond racing steelies for the rear, rolling the fender a bit and then really spending some money on it in 2016..
All of this will come when I get some money together and it's warmer.. I have a little bit saved up so I'm probably going to order a bunch of parts next week!

I love the work so far. Keep it up!
I know a lot of people **** LS swaps but FC's really seem like the perfect car for them considering they look great, good price/condition and size of the engine bay hahaLast edited by Ayrton; 01-15-2015, 11:37 AM.

Soooo I cleaned the engine bay up a bit
Then I got a few parts in the mail....
LS engine life plate, made things much easier
and Granny's speed shop swap kit !
Dash out
In order to instal the engine mounts the steel power steering lines have to be bent in order to go through the holes on the mounts (all this info is on Granny's site.. although the leave out quite a bit..)
lines bent, close but not touching any of the mount
Mounted the LS corvette fuel filter
Cleaned up RX7 oil pressure sender a bit and got it on the engine
Cutting off 13b tranny cross member mounts to make room for the t56! Granny's site says to only do the one side but we tried that and it was still in the way so we did both
Intake off -> lift plate on
Engine ready to go in finally but delayed by rain..........
BUT the day finally came and a friend stopped by to help in his lancer which is now sold to fund his 2jz rx7 swappurists are going to **** us..
And finally it's in!
Went pretty smoothly, got it in for good on the 3rd try which seems to be how everything with this project has been going but, finally got the engine and transmission bolted in.. Not many pics of progress
Order up some BC Racing coilovers!
Don't forget to put your phone some place safe while working on your car hahahahahahahahahahhaha...
Random pictures of engine in with rad and of the ECU mount we made
And just some random pictures with the intake back on it
I was super lazy with taking pictures but I will try and get some more of what we've been doing... Haven't done much in a little while as it's like -30 Celsius here in Canada and with school I've been super busy BUT just working on wiring, got power steering lines made to connect to the LS, relocated the battery to the trunk, got the clutch connected...... uhm.......... that's about it!

The Tinman: Driveway V8 Build
Hi everyone! My name's Ayrton.. Not really sure how to start this because it's my first time ever doing anything like this but I guess I'll just jump right into it! (I apologize for phone pictures/quality I am going to try and take pictures whenever I remember and can but I'll try and get decent quality photos)
As summer approached I was in desperate need of a new car and something to have fun with over the summer, I was originally looking for a nice e30 coupe to do a turbo m20 build or maybe an s50/2 swap but they were scarce in good condition and for the price I was wanting to pay.. But that's when I came across this!
A 1986 Mazda rx7 GXL pretty near by, offered him $1000 and was able to pick it up that week.. Body is in pretty decent condition (plans to repaint it when I get the money, but probably next year) a few scratches and it had seemed to have been hit in the front bumper but other than the hood generally rust free!
Also came with a racing beat exhaust, interior is 80% there but I was pretty happy with it! (Was supposed to run but didn't at the time I picked it up..) So that was that and I towed it home..
Now months passed and I had no money because I had to sell my daily so not a whole lot happened, finally got it running, had some electrical problems and had to get a new fuel pump from the wreckers but I was able to drive it around! (It overheated a few times and drove like a piece of crap but I enjoyed it, where my friend came up with the name the tinman because it needed a new heart, cute right)
Finally managed to get some cash together and decided on what I wanted to do... So we went out and picked something up for the little rx7!
Christmas in AugustLS1 pulled from a 2001 Camaro SS, 78k miles on it and was super clean
The next day got the car up on jack stands and started to disconnect the old motor
Random pic, rad drained and out...
View from the inside, everything pretty much disconnected, ONE wire underneath the intake manifold stopping us from pulling the engine, read online it was easier to just take the whole harness out so was trying to figure that out.. Not at all easier... Just removed the intake manifold and got it free..
And it's out!
So that's where I'm at now.. Time for a deep clean of the engine bay and some removal of unnecessary wires.. and I'll try to update you guys as much as possible!
Waiting on Granny's swap kit should be here any day now and I also have some BC racing coilovers ordered that should hopefully get here soon!
Plans for the car; just a nice simple clean build, pretty stock body wise, maybe some fender flares.. I want to redo the whole interior all black and have it looking like new, as well as paint and wheels but that will come probably next year!
Continuously looking for wheel ideas so if you have any let me know! (I am a part time student so keep that in mind!)
I was thinking of trying to fit some corvette saw blades in the front and maybe some wide 17" diamond steelies in the back with rolled or maybe bolt on fender flares.. But I have time to decided..
Not a whole lot done yet but yeah..!Last edited by Ayrton; 08-13-2014, 05:38 PM.Tags: None
