Well I am back for the summer and I am hitting the 2002 hard.

Almost done with the welding now, we only have a little bit left on one of the doors. So now I get to have some fun with bondo. What we have left now is just to finish up bondo work (Will take forever) and to put her back together. My brother has hooked it up with a ton of brand new parts for it so putting it back together should be a good time.

Here are some pictures of some of the places we had to weld new metal into.
Firewall was completely rusted through in many places so we basically had to fab up a new one.

    Front Fenders are both on.

Here is a shot of the subframe going back together. We got all new bushings and painted everything so its going to be both beautiful and functional.

Here is a shot of the workspace we have. Pretty lucky to have some solid tools and a great place to work.

And on another note, I just picked this up not too long ago. Needs a little work but runs great and is rust free! Plan is to just make it a little more comfortable and then im taking it back to Clemson with me next year.

    Shop dog

And last but not least, a quick video I put together of me welding on the last fender.

No one needs to know about that.

It was on an old MOMO wheel that we found in the trunk when I bought the car, sorry don't know where it could have come from.

The younger bro tacked some sheet metal in to repair the wreckage that was the front splitter. I think it will look pretty solid once its finished up and plan on putting a turbo splitter over it so its more structural that anything

And not to lose focus here but this POS showed up yesterday. It was just so cheap and had an entire extra cars worth of parts that came with it that I couldn't pass it up. We got the engine running but it needs a new trans dropped in. Just gunna cruise around in this deathtrap till the other one is finished and go from there.

    Hi we're back

We are back, sorry to keep everyone so anxiously waiting, here's everything that has happened....

    Off to see the wizard!

Dipped it in chocolate to make things a little more tasty

After the sandblasting we unfortunately found how messed up this shell really was, the firewall, front floorpans, frame rails, lower front facia and side skirts, were toast... don't have pics of the process of fixing these things because it was so frustrating and I wasn't about to take photos of it. Here is some of the finished product though

Lopping off the Swiss Cheese front facia

Without a doubt the most daunting task was figuring out how to reconstruct the frame and side rails while allowing them to still flow with the body. Here is what we came up with

Reconstructing the firewall is about to be fun!

All off this reconstruction meant that we needed to take a break for some fun, so naturally we cut the rear wheel wells out

    Left side removed!

And like magic we've got some beast wide fenders

Pictures really cant depict how awesome I think these look.. William is starting to get really good at welding so they really flow well without too much grinding.

While we were waiting on the car to get back from blasting I also took the liberty to strip the engine down and replace the gaskets (except the head gasket) Also gave the engine a nice fresh coat of paint.

And finally the icing on the cake got my pair of e21 Sport Recaros refinished

So I decided to experiment with restoring the engine wiring harness - pretty scraggly and dirty

Removed the old unraveling friction tape, cleaned up the wires with a light degreaser

All wrapped up in some fresh friction tape, it looks great but is still a bit tacky, hoping it doesn't pick up a bunch of dust....

Got some F6 heat shield to re-wrap the portions that went by the engine and need to be protected from the heat

Haha all the surface rust in places that are not fun to get with the wire brush - I couldn't stand it anymore
