Hyundai warranties? TIME TO SHARE MY RECENT EXPERIENCE!

So a month ago my slave cylinder goes out, I guess its a somewhat common thing so considering I only have one mod in my transmission, a Competition clutch, I assume my warranty will cover it. Drop the car off and they call me the next day saying (I shit you not) "yeah, this car is heavily modified, I'm seeing a boost gauge on the dash right now"...THEY USE A FUCKING GAUGE AS JUSTIFICATION THAT MY CAR IS TOO MODIFIED. Shit, they put gauges in the 2013s stock. We argue with them saying none of my mods directly caused the slave cylinder to go fucky, they beg to differ. Later that day they call me saying they "plugged my car in and its producing twice the factory specifications"...so now my GC is I guess putting down over 400hp. This showed that this dealership is a joke. In the end they denied my warranty and I had to pay $990.56 or something stupid like that for a $200 part. This also means that my master cylinder is going to blow soon to which they responded that it still wont be under warranty because of my mods...even though its a law that a dealership cant deny a warranty due to modified parts unless they prove that said parts were the cause of it. Sooo right now I'm filing a lawsuit against Hyundai North America...

But I still love my GC.

As for Hyundai, they are getting rid of their undercutting their competitors by having the cheapest cars, and is starting to move towards more higher quality cars at the same price of their competitors, if not better. This way people who are cross shopping won't feel that they are settling for a Hyundai, but upgrading to one. Cars like the Genesis and Equus are halo cars meant to get people to get people in the door instead of selling well.

They feel that if they outsell their competitors and get more Hyundai vehicles on the road it will improve Hyundai's image even if it isn't about making a lot of profit.

As for dealerships, most people aren't car savvy and keep returning to the dealerships that always give the customer the short end of the stick, because they don't know any better.

Doh! Sucks to hear you're having engine issues. Hopefully, you get it back into good health and hopefully better than before cuz this car is pretty rad.

It's not necessarily Hyundai corporate, but it's the dealerships themselves. Hyundai USA has an incentive based program that encourages the selling and maintaining of their vehicles at little profit(so they can sell a lot more). Every warranty claim has to be reported to Hyundai USA, and if there are more warranty repairs at a certain dealership than others, then they might be audited and lose their incentives. If that dealership has nothing to hide, and is completely honest they usually don't have anything to worry about, if they do, they want to keep the corporate as far away as possible. My local Hyundai dealership is a terrible offender, they installed radiator hoses on upside down, and did it under the table when I had my elantra. On my mother's tucson there was a faulty transmission solenoid that with no apparent reason caused the drive by wire system to malfunction, hang a gear and accelerate without the foot on the petal(they only reported the transmission solenoid failure), and the car still hangs gears and has a very hesitant/touchy drive by wire system. We have gone back several times with documentation showing similar problems with the same engine/tranny configuration and they refuse to look at it. If they report this to corporate, then it could raise their chances of being audited. If they sold a car that did not pass initial dealer inspection, they can be in deep shit.

All Hyundai USA wants to do is sell massive amounts of cars and keeping the customer happy so they will be likely to buy another hyundai vehicle. The dealerships are privately owned, and tend to be a bit on the greedy side.

At least that's the way that I was told how it worked by my friend who is an internet sales manager.

Plus, Hyundai tech's aren't the most competent guys out there, and they are payed based on the amount of time it takes to do a repair(if it's marked as an 8 hour job and they finish it in 5 they get payed for 8), and some guys will cut corners or bullshit you for that extra pay.

The dealers are terrible though I despise those people. My wife wanted me to call corporate and whine, but honestly I don't want their help. I really want nothing to do with the company at all.

You should fight the claim. No way I would let this go like this. Get Hyundai of NA involved and post everything on here. Show them that it's going viral, they **** negative press.

The TSB says to add a transmission fluid additave, but they wanted me to pay and leave my car for a few days so they could drive it around. I ended up changing it out for redline mt90.

Claim the magnuson moss warranty act on their asses. Don't be a pushover. If push comes to shove, tell them that you did all of your oil changes yourself, there is no way to disprove this. The last thing they want to do is to go to court, so force them to honor your warranty.

Once they swap in the new engine, then you can sell that off to fund your new project, or boost it. I've never heard of anyone having engine problems so soon on a relatively stock engine though, maybe you just got one of those few shit engines.

I figure they are just dudes trying to do their job who are following some bullshi* policy blindly that puts them in a bind when they have to tell me no. It is Hyundai making those policies and it is BS because of their aggressive marketing of their warranty.

I do take responsibility for driving fairly hard. It didn't pop during aggressive driving though it just slowly lost power and got noisier (to be honest i think it made noise from day 1 that I believed was the loud clutch and transmission that everyone complains about, that clanky clunk at low speed)

I loved the car as it was, but live and learn. My wife wanted a santa fe and that isn't happening now. I honestly do my best when I am faced with a struggle, i have a bit different outlook on life than most. Some may think i am weird or stupid but I don't care, I just value experience over money.

Even though this has placed a large financial burden on me I've learned to look forward past that stress and communicate better with my wife. It has actually affected my life in a positive way already.

It just sucks in the moment having to be so patient and not having that photographic outlet.

Sucks about the engine shitting the bed, but I'm so happy an LS engine will be filling the void in the engine bay.

What reasoning did they give you for denial on the engine repairs?

fuck man.. where you've gotten this car to makes me miss mine so much..

in about a year I'm selling the WRX, and plan to use the money I've been saving for all metal fender work, 20x11 all around wheels, and then push as much as I can out of the motor, like you plan to. I miss the car so much.. fuck hyundai.. but the genesis will always hold a special spot in my heart. so I decided I'm just going to buy another, and go all out haha.

Wow, they utterly destroyed the front end for the facelifted (or is it a new generation?) Genesis' by making it look like a longer Veloster. Your car makes a beautiful racket and definitely sub'd for updates.
