I'm just going to keep the 3.8 in it, straight pipe it, get it tuned, and just enjoy that through my last year of school. After that, its time for what I've always truly wanted. 8000 RPMs of glorious V8.
Good plan! This is a good book, I'm just going to start with a bare block and see if i can pull it off.

ha damn... well i was set on going the LS route. but i just got a new job and really need a car. I got a steal on a used 3.8 motor so that is going in for the time being.

I couldn't find too many decent LM7 or LQ9s that i felt comfortable with in my area without a rebuild. So i figure i'll start with an LM7 block and build it up slowly. I need the car soon but I also need a lot of time for the LS swap so have a drink for me burning my money LOL. If my block isn't too damaged i may think about building that instead, but tuning is tough and scarce.

h yeah blu, do you have an aftermarket flywheel?

I know on the 2.0t's the oem dual mass flywheel is there not just to keep vibrations inside of the car down, but to keep the crankshaft from vibrating like it's a harmonic balancer. Some guy did a teardown of the engine and found that the stock crank was something like 50 grams heavier on one side than the other or something crazy like that and that it needs to be balanced if you are going with an aftermarket flywheel.
I wonder if it's the same for the 3.8? I also wonder if it's considered a wear item.
I will have the SMF in on the new motor, the old one that was in when the motor went was just the clunky OEM dual mass. We will see if this flywheel makes the motor go BOOM!

I'm going to buy a used 2011-2012 RSPEC again and say fuck the warranty. Just rip on it and when the motor blows, do the same thing you're doing. I absolutely love this car to death. I just dislike hyundai with a passion.

keep updating here dude! I refuse to check gencoupe lol

Terribly sorry to hear about all the warranty BS man...... hopefully the LS will prove to be a little more fun anyway. Still one of my favorite GC's, even with the engine blown

So a month ago my slave cylinder goes out, I guess its a somewhat common thing so considering I only have one mod in my transmission, a Competition clutch, I assume my warranty will cover it. Drop the car off and they call me the next day saying (I shit you not) "yeah, this car is heavily modified, I'm seeing a boost gauge on the dash right now"...THEY USE A FUCKING GAUGE AS JUSTIFICATION THAT MY CAR IS TOO MODIFIED. Shit, they put gauges in the 2013s stock. We argue with them saying none of my mods directly caused the slave cylinder to go fucky, they beg to differ. Later that day they call me saying they "plugged my car in and its producing twice the factory specifications"...so now my GC is I guess putting down over 400hp. This showed that this dealership is a joke. In the end they denied my warranty and I had to pay $990.56 or something stupid like that for a $200 part. This also means that my master cylinder is going to blow soon to which they responded that it still wont be under warranty because of my mods...even though its a law that a dealership cant deny a warranty due to modified parts unless they prove that said parts were the cause of it. Sooo right now I'm filing a lawsuit against Hyundai North America...

But I still love my GC.

fuh king hell man... what a joke

let me know how yours goes, that part is so hard to get. I spent a month trying to get that slave cyl from somewhere else but korea and it doesn't exist. Ended up finding a valeo from gripforce that someone tipped me off on (not on their site)

and people keep asking me why don't you just replace the engine they are only 2k on the used market....

GC is a good car sold by terrible people

You think they even scanned it? I don't even think they do diagnostic on warranty. I think they just make their best guess and tell you to pay up. I have a strong feeling they didn't even oil test or comp test mine.
