decided the lips and barrels are getting powder a week from saturday. should be able to assemble and throw the azenis on shortly thereafter.
the ACS potentially are going on tomorrow if i get out of the office at a normal hour. picked up some sweet OEM locking lug bolt sets for the car, and now have to dial in the suspension and get it sorted out.

here is one of the finished sets... now to adjust the coils downward and these will be going on shortly
last second change to gloss silver metallic powdercoat double coat of the everclear.. decided simple was the way to go here. and the 255/40 pss look right at home on there.

the 3 piece set will be built some time this month when i finish all of the customers and friends builds, and will get some tires on it.. going to be using them for one or two shows and a FS sign will be going up for the wheels. anyone with an e46 non m should take advantage of this as its one of the most interestingly finished sets so far.. and its not overbearing with colorLast edited by 1badg35; 03-31-2014, 07:49 AM.

yeah its a little sad. the first time i noticed was the diy section with write-ups on how to do the simplest of tasks.
the how to open your hood DIY…. haha
so as a small update, the ACS are getting repowdered this weekend in a new shade and going onto the car as soon as i get some time thereafter.
the other wheels will go together as soon as i get some time…probably in about a month as i have been swamped with projects prototyping. the 2014 wheel line updates and cap line is just about to release, and it takes up all of my after work time coordinatingLast edited by 1badg35; 03-11-2014, 09:09 AM.

The guys on bimmerforums are retards generally. Like retarded enough to tell themselves that their 540 automatic with blinding HIDs and fake M6 wheels is somehow better than a M5 6spd with factory hids and BBS LM's. Needless to say I sold my Bummer, and left that forum after a year.

haha i thought about it once before. would be absolutely hilarious as an e46 panel van.
i have to say i sort of like the stockish look of the car. it doesnt grab any attention which is really nice for a change. Everything else I drive causes a commotion wherever i go, so its semi nice to have a "boring vehicle".
maybe im getting old.. haha
I have to say loving these coils so far. the car is much more confidant and much more fun on the road, while still being soft enough to easily be a daily. took it for a little drive after work by the water and its a lot better planted. Nothing like the fairlady or anything, but for a daily driver its certainly getting better to drive

when you said you have to haul so much things and donīt want it to be visible from outside...I just had to think of what would happen if you turn this into a panel van...with your fab skills that shouldnīt be a big problem.

haven't touched the wheels.
decided the ACS were going on permanently, and the 3 piece set would be going on for a show or two with a FS sign on them.
ACS coupled with 255/40/18 pilot super sports all around
3 piece bbs coupled with 225/40/18 azenis rt615k all around

Glad to hear the alternator got sorted out quickly...You cant rely on forums when nobody tried and are speculating that it wont work, really nice to see someone who went down and plugged coilovers on an xi wich turned out fine.
Im guessing you didnt have time to work on the wheels

so this weekend was a better one. finally had a single moment to work on my own projects… Well not really, but I made time anyway. People can wait an extra day for their stuff.
I have good news, and then better news. Alternator was the source of the issues as expected, and about 90 min after i popped the hood, the car was back on and driving. access was easier than i thought to yank it out.
And the better news
so there is all this talk over on the bmw forums, that there are no suspension items for XI cars, and that the e46 2wd parts dont work on awd variants. As is true for most of the stuff said on those forums…. that is false
Bought e46 325i BC BR coil overs.. got the chance to do the install yesterday.. bolted right up. One small spot where the locating pin is on the bottom of the coil over had to be tapped out (a whole 5 min ordeal) and they bolted right up. Had no hope the sway bar end links would work (figured i would fab my own), and they do in fact work
So, all of the manufacturers, all of the bmw guys that don't actually work on their own cars, and the guys who live by the forums and don't take any chances… well 325i coil overs work on 325xi variants.
drove the car for about 50 miles so far to do a full shake down, and everything clears the front drive axles, and work as they should. car drives far better and feels a billion times more solid. through the north shore twists, the car is far more predictable, and even with winter tires its more fun to throw around the turns. it holds to the road far better than expected for a 3600lb wagon. actually far superior when compared to the 4.2l audi s4 i had previously
pics soon. currently still on the snow tires, the coils are at a height only slightly lower than stock, but they are in and the car drives like a completely different car.
oh and install took 3 hours and required a small amount of tools. nothing that the average person who works on cars wouldn't have. I didn't even have to open any of the special tool drawers. breaker bar, a few sockets, a 1/2" ratchet, a few close ended wrenches, and off they cameLast edited by 1badg35; 03-10-2014, 09:42 AM.
