Okay, for those of you who are like me and **** spending large amounts of money when its not Exactly needed. I ordered a raised gas tank member from thorbecke brothers only to find that the crossmember ONLY raises the REAR of the tank, thus making the front sit even lower which makes my situation worse. So after some searching, i found that you have to unbolt the front strap, then jack the tank up and drill holes in the frame to run new bolts just to fix the front of the tank hanging down, so i was in the shop the other night and thought, why the hell cant i just lift the front of the tank with the stock crossmember.

    Step 1.
Take the 4x 3/8 bolts out that are holding the strap in place out. Make sure a jack is under the tank at this point.

    Step 2.
Jack the tank up as high as you can get it. For me, it was about an inch. Then youll want to drill a hole about an inch from the center of the stock bolt and a little and i mean a little to the left. I drilled all the way through the strap and just ran a nut and bolt and tightened the shit out of it since i couldnt get my chubby hands to any other bolt location Behind the frame

BAM, youre done! Your tank is lifted. The only downside to this is the tank is now unlevel which may cause your fuel gauge to read wrong, but you save almost 200 bucks and your bed doesnt have to come off. Youre welcome.

Thanks man! And yup, its a mooneyes wheel

Okay, took the bed off, put brakes on, undercoated the frame, painted exhaust, and lifted the tank and patched it.

And now me and the truck are officially bonded.

Ill post pics of how i lifted the tank without using the raised x member later tonight
