200-to-320 have the same body. (standard body)
400-420 have same body (though with a wider trans tunnel to fit the big v8 trans)
500's have same body as 400/420 (+wider fenders)

So thats also the reason why v8 W124 sportline/500E/E500 seats won't fit directly into regular w124's. The rails on the seats are narrower.

Oh and pics dont work anymore. Pls fix them

I was under the impression that they had wider before I bought one and then I did, and the fenders are the same as the 300e fenders. The guy who said "V8 sucks" has most likely never had the luxury of daily driving one of these cars. It's amazing and I can't express enough how amazing it is having a hand built v8 over a machine built american LS motor.

Technically it's still a debate, but if you ask the people who worked at Mercedes from 1992-1995 chances are they will tell you what I just told you, which is that the latter ones were made in house by Mercedes. The only reason they went to Porsche was because Mercedes did not have enough room for assembly, in fact Mercedes asked AMG before Porsche but AMG wouldn't have been able to produce them quick enough with their small building. Between 8 and 12 were completed daily. There is a reason for Wikipedia not being a credible source for research papers in school.
Yea lots of bits of wrong info about these rare cars out there, sorry you have been mislead, I've had 3 of them now so I've seen this before.

Maybe this will help from the Porsche Museum, all 500E / E500 where build 1990 - 1995 at the Porsche plant......

    Amen to this!

Had one, ended up buying second one just for parts... two wasn't enough to make one. Sold both in the end.

Good luck with your build OP, hopefully you'll get further than I did!

Only the 500E / E500 where built by Porsche together with Mercedes, these are very rare cars, if you ever get a chance, owe one.

    Also ....
    - 400E / E420 don't have wider fenders, they are the same as all W124's only the 500E / E500 is a wide body.
    - All 500E / E500 where built by Porsche together with Mercedes, not just some years.

Here's a shot of my Black 500E, the one behind it is stock and has 590K miles on it with original motor and tranz.

Porsche assembled, and slightly modified the early run 500E's. Late runs, and '94 E500's were built by MB just like all of the other W124's. Moral of the story here is that a 400E was not built by Porsche.
