Considering getting an old 5 series bumper for
really cheap, this still is not close to being done so
don't look at this as a final product, it's no where near done.

Drove to a small car meet tonight and asked people what
they saw me drive in with and without thinking twice they
said, it looks like an old school e30. They were so surprised
when I told them what it really was. They absolutely loved it!
and clearly they understood my sense of humor and were able to enjoy it.

Ya Loren said he molded an extra grille on to extend it - sanded it down perfectly and painted over it.
That's the route I think I'd like to take for both sides. Check it out with headlights! The evolution continues. It's about 40% completed.

Ya that's huge, I'd like to keep it all e30 though. I may have to try what Loren did. I'll ask him about it

I have an e23 and an e30 and the grille on the e23 looks a little taller if i remember correctly

e32 kidneys are definitely the biggest, check out how huge they are on an e30

    (looks like a lancia...)

I noticed that you posted a photo previously but have you considered using the front end (grills, lights etc.) from a 7 series e23? That would give you the top turn signals and would be wider while keeping a similar look.
This is certainly interesting and I wish you all the best with succeeding.

I appreciate that! That's an option I haven't even considered. I'll talk to my friend about it tonight and see what he thinks, because if its possible to not have the turn signals up top, I'd rather go the route with out them.

Haha, Loren and I are shooting a wedding next week together,
we both work for the same producer in Seattle.

SK, thanks for respecting that, regardless how ridiculous this is, at least I know it.
Sometimes in life we get bored and need something stupid to do to occupy our time.
I think however this turns out, it'll look awesome regardless haha. I'll post a pic later tonight when I pick it up

I'm all confused by this thread, but to add to the confusion, here's an idea.
A local guy plastic welded/glued/bondoed/idk some slats into the empty open hole to block off his high beam light. You could do this same thing to make yours longer, or see if e34 or e32 grilles are any wider, like mentioned above.

    Here's a pic of Loren's headlight mod:

Seems like a pretty good approach.

You could be building pretty much any car and I would still respect you because you have a great attitude. I strongly dislike it when people get irrational and overly defensive about their cars for no reason on here.

Were going to put back in the the stock DRL's temporarily until we decide what were going to do about the gap from the grille and the fender. I'm actually not spending what you assume I am. Tonight I'll get the car back at home to take some pictures of it's current status. Were gonna take a week off and come back to it. During this week I can take some time to look at it, do more research and figure out the best route to go. Now that it's at a half way point, it will give me a better perspective on things.

This just... isn't going to work.

Beyond messing up the cars, problems with "messing with" brand identity, aesthetics and everything else that all the other people are complaining about the main issue with this is it isn't going to work.
They're two different cars the parts don't fit. Its going to be a lot more work and money than a "don't give a fuck project would justify. Modifying the stock Subaru and even owing the car itself i think qualifies for enough uniqueness to really stand out. This is ...overboard.

    .

Uh but here ill try to be useful. Possibly you can research the dimensions of kidney grilles for other bmw's. I think e32 or e34 grilles have a chance of being closer to the right size. Oh, and of course, good luck man.

Ya it looks like I'd have to extend and wrap the fenders around too much for my liking, I think I'll have to go with this look with the turn signals up top, we'll see - what are your thoughts?

I think the turn signal route would be the easiest, and IMO best looking decision. I'm liking this a lot actually
