I think something along the lines of this is going to be the aim...
Real clean and subtle, especially the side mirrors moved forward from stock locations

Thanks SickFinga,
FYI: Well, putting together a bunch of pictures to get ideas for a project is called an inspiration board. And Pinterest is simple, easy to use, and popular among a lot of people your age.... (condesending voice of someone exhasperated with telling how to do shit on the internets)After what can only be described as emasculation I was able to learn that today and now present you with my "Inspiration Board for project: 196? w108"
https://www.pinterest.com/rudyrude/t...mercedes-benz/
Any and all thoughts/comments/ideas would be cool, even crazy **** suggestions to "chop the top / make it a drop top , rust/instead of paint... etc anything:
Trying to keep the project under around $1,000 , so more labor intensive things vs expensive things work
So far Im thinking clean up the wheels really well, paint to match, and whitewall tires?
Otherwise the plan is:
A. Drop it
2.Figure out how to make it drivable now that it is sufficiently dropped to my liking.
3. Fix it by dropping it the way you knew you should have in the first place
Blue 52. Figure out how to make it drivable now that it is properly dropped to my liking.
5b. Something
5b. Something
Omaha: Happiness.
Thanks for taking a look, look forward to hearing a few thoughtsLast edited by rudyrude; 03-16-2015, 02:12 PM.

Finally getting a chance to think about doing something with her (why do all cars have girl names?) in a long long long time... Unfortunate I live in Michigan where I swear that sometimes the idea of 'Summer" seems so far fetch that it must be a rumor...
Been poking arund the internets to see if i could find inspiration on what others have gone with for their w108 ( pretty sure its euro edition based on the shape of the headlight and the amount of digits in the cost of buying a replacement one....)

Anyways, seems like a great starter for a nice ratty build, or a resto. But as stated, resto costs a bit and you will have trouble finding parts for it.

title say 1963 mercedes but the w108 was made 1965—1972. Somethings up here?
Looking at the pictures more carefully I'd say your car is 1967. It was built somewhere between March and September. Pop the hood and check identification plates. They are on the radiator support.

Wicked, hubcaps look early but I don't know what year etc. What I know is that missing parts cost a lot, if its salvageable try to find a cheap donor/swap meet parts to complete
Good luck!!

you def have a 250S, more than likely a late 60's model, someone may have fudged up on your title. You may have a 68 going on the fact that your serial number is 030118.

Euro lamps can be a bit pricey, cheaper to get them in Europe, might cost you on the shipping [don't know if you live state side]. Since it looks like you still have the frame and guts for the passenger side light, you may only need the headlamp lens. Troll around and look for a junkyard, you may get lucky if you decide to fix it up, if anything, get that poor car out of the grass. Neat find!Last edited by lewda; 05-09-2013, 10:31 AM.
