  • Help! bags vs. coil springs for older cars

I need help making a decision. Currently, I have a 1979 Pinto Wagon sitting back at home with no engine or trans, and a 1988 Tbird Turbo Coupe that needs work done to the brakes and suspension. Due to how hard parts are to find for the Tbird since it was only made for two years, I want to fix it to be a good driver for the time being while I'm in the Marines, and when I get home, I want to take all the cool stuff off of the Tbird and put it onto/into the Pinto. It's going to be a 2.3t and 5-speed swap, narrow the 8.8in 3.73 geared, LSD rear end to fit under the Pinto, the rare factory chrome wheels, the blue valure seats (btw, the Pinto is blue, inside and out, so it'll be perfect.) The engine in the Tbird has a factory top mount intercooler, so if I were to keep it, I'd need to fabricate the stock hood scoops from the hood of the Tbird into the stock Pinto hood but I'll most likely go with a front mount. I wanted to know if I should go with bags or coils on the wagon. I intend for it to be an all around car. daily or track, and be low as hell on the 17in, 225 wide Tbird wheels. The Pinto's wheel wells are already nicely flared from the factory. Is there any issues with bags as far as longevity if I were to kick it sideways, spin the tires a little or take it to the track once in a while? Or should I go with a coilover conversion? I think that about covers it. Thanks!
