I love that the radius of the Nardi wheel appears to perfectly match the radius of the gauge cluster.

    Such a cool project!

That sucks about the axle. The plastic wagon will rise again!

Things have been going relatively uneventful recently, until this weekend.

Went down to Boston for the Marathon a week ago, parked in front of our old apartment. Had to take a picture.

Then this past sunday, we headed out to New England Dustoff, one of the best early season VW/Audi shows in New England. Made it 8 miles from the show, and the front end started shaking violently at highway speed. Got off an exit, and it only got worse the slower I drove. Was going to try and limp it to the show, but there was no way. It would have probably caused more issues if I had tried to. So, the call for help went out. A friend from that lives in the Providence came to the rescue, brought tools and a jack. Realized that this probably wasnt a roadside fix, at least not with the tools that we had. So I had him bring us to the show and we would sort it out there. Thought we had a truck/trailer lined up, but that fell through, but luckily the same guy that came to our rescue also let us use one of his AAA tows, which covered 100 miles, and my house was 88 miles. Perfect. Car got loaded up, and dropped at Dads house, where I will dig into it this week.

Quick driveway diagnosis, seems like the drivers side axle gave up. I suspected that axle had been replaced before, and I have a funny feeling that the aftermarket axles arent fans of the angles Im putting then at. So an old Saturn axle will be going in.

Hoping to have it all back together for one of my favorite shows of the year this weekend, Staggered in CT.

I can't believe that I stumbled across this thread man, been following the tan wagon build for a while on IG, and now the black one too. Black/tan's gonna look nice! Kinda inspired me to get off my ass and get back to work on my car, always good seeing guys modifying unpopular cars

Havent done much in the past week or so, weather got colder here for a bit and its been sucking outside.

But I did do this the other day.

Nardi Classic 360mm. Got it from a Malaysian selling on eBay, Pretty sure its off of an old Jag. Still waiting for my nice hub to get to me, but my buddy knew I was sick of looking at it in my kitchen, so he fabbed me up an ugly but functional hub that I can use until my nice one comes in. I absolutely love this thing. Its something Ive always wanted, and now I have one. I need to sand down the wood and refinish it though, its covered in this awful varnish. So at some point I plan on doing that and polishing the spokes.

The rest of the interior will hopefully happen this week.

I don't know why I have a thing for wagons, and the girlfriend thinks I'm nuts because of it. That being said, the car looks great with the new wheels.

    Thanks guys. Its getting there.

And yeah, rubbed through the fender. Whoops.

Ive been busy this week. First, one more picture from saturday...

Then on monday, started ripping the tan interior out of the gold car. First time taking the dash out was a lot of trial and error, but I got it out.

Then Tuesday, out came some of the grey, and in went some of the tan.

So now the dash, carpet, seats, my 1 off gauge faces/LED lighting, lower trim, shifter, and center console are in. Next up is door panels, upper trim, everything in the hatch, and the headliner. Possibly the seatbelts too.

Im already in love with it. The contrast of the dark exterior and the light interior is perfect.

Going to start ripping the tan interior out of the gold car tomorrow. I miss my brown dash and leather seats.
