  • project punschkrappfel

punschkrappfel is a slang, somewhat rude, but funny, term for the region of Austria where BagYard resides. I'm not a big fan of build up threads, in fact, I **** them for the most part. However, I felt it would be fun to have some sort of a documentary on the 'rebuilding' of my GTI.

When I first bought my GTI back in 2003, I never thought I'd end up where I am today. This car has been through four, soon to be five stages of bodywork, paint, wheels, etc. I'll just stop talking and kick this thing of with some pictures.

    Last Season

I will get some updated pics this weekend of how the car sits now. I assure you, it isn't "together" or "nice". It's just "functional", and thats all that matters for right now.

    Plans:

    OEM European Front Bumper
    OEM European Front Rub Strip
    OEM European Rear Bumper
OEM 25th AE Mirrors (longer than stubby's but shorter than NA)
    OEM 25th AE Headlights
    OEM European RSSR Tails
    OEM R32 F&R Seats
    OEM R32 Pedals
    OEM R32 E-Brake Handle
    BBS 3 Spoke Wood Wheel
    Rear Seat Delete/False Floor
BagYard Bombers (custom finished in some color...TBD)
    Dual 3 Gallon tank management
    480c Compressor
Accuair SwitchSpeed (not 100% on this yet)
    Accuair Manifold
    Fikse FM-10's 17x8 (setup changes to 17x8 F & 17x9.5 R)
    2x New Fikse 7.5" Barrels
    2x New Fikse 2" Lips
    Filled Notches
    Filled Ovals

    Parts Purchased:
    OEM R32 Seats
    OEM R32 E-brake Boot
    OEM R32 Pedals
    OEM Euro RSSR Tails
    OEM R32 F&R Seats
    OEM 25th AE Mirrors
    Fikse Wheels, Lips & Barrels

I'll post pictures when I get home next weekend. Most of the work will be done by myself and Euro-Werks Performance in Clifton Heights. My friends Mike & Eric own the shop and both of them turn out stellar work. I'm excited to get this project rolling and make something of the car again. I really do miss driving something that has some 'style' or 'panache'. I welcome all comments, criticisms, suggestions, etc.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

        Thanks for the good words.

And yes, this is what I was talking about. I've already purchased a number of parts and I'm hoping that some of these other European parts turn up on Vortex soon, or else I'm going to have to change my plans a little bit.

My goal is to have the car finished by April 18th. I would like to have the car debut at the New England Dustoff.
