Classic Mini Project

Hell why not. I don't know that this thread will go anywhere, but this is my current project car. The rough plan right now is to keep it completely classic and classy everywhere but the engine, which will receive an R1 engine at some point.

It's a 1969 Austin Mini 1000 (Mk II) in Sandy Beige with a tartan red interior. In case anybody wonders what these cost I got this one for $7,500.

When I first got it.




Interior:

A lil bit I think poke is pretty much the only option with these cars.

Yeah, it's got an A+ series engine, 998. It cranks out about 40hp. 0-60 in about 20 seconds (seriously), top speed of 70 unless you're going downhill.

Not bad. That's why i'm going the 16V route

Yeah, I'd like to do a Pro-motive R1 conversion eventually, but I don't have a spare $5k laying around right now

I've got to be able to keep the RHD and 10" wheels, otherwise I'd be going for the Vtec conversion.

If you need to keep the '10 wheels have you thought about turboing it? Or even supercharging it?

Nice car, I have a '79 RHD Red with White stripes and roof, they are fun cars. Does yours have the wet or dry suspension?
