  • E36 Auto shifter removal, how?

Ive just got myself a replacement gear shifter for the motor, its an Auto. A later model so its not the T-shaped lever.

Ive heard you simply just pull up as hard as possible and it comes off, well in my case its not, its not budging! Am i forgetting something?

Being an auto, it has the trigger at the back so has some kind of mech inside which wont allow the shifter to spin. Will only go up or down.

Oh yeah I get ya, don't have much to do with auto's...Is there a little allen key near the bottom? That's all I can think of. Otherwise chop it off, short shifter ftw lol

Mine came off quite easily, not really any help for Auto but I put it into 3rd and pulled towards the back of the car more and it came off quite easily.
