  • Copper Plating?

is it pricey? i heard its cheaper than chrome plating

  • #2
i have no idea about prices since chroming is not available in my country. Tho when you chrome something, the part will be copper plated first, as a base for the chrome to stick to. So i would imagine that it would be cheaper to copper plate, since all you do is to skip some steps. and remember to tell them to clear it, or else it will oxidize and turn green like that statue in new york.

Copper plating is the process in which a layer of copper is deposited on the item to be plated by using an electric current.

you can't, they plating turns black quickly -- your chromer is going to have a learning curve if he's never done it before. a friend of mine just had this done on some wheels haha

Cheaper than chrome but by how much depends on the quality of the finish. Not much cheaper, in most cases and much harder to upkeep due to the speed with which copper oxidizes.
