compressor problem?

the other night when lifting my rear end i heard a pop from the trunk, checked it out, there was no smoke. Everything was working but kinda a weird smell nothing burnt. Now the compressor has a slight rattle when it runs but it is still running at capacity

Need more information, what compressor do you have? does the compressor itself rattle or does the internals of the compressor rattle?

maybe post a picture of your setup so we can get an idea of how the compressor sits?
