  • 165-50-16's HELPPPP

Okay so my buddy with a mk3 jetta has a set of 1 piece BBS basket weaves. They are 16x7 et 22. Well he is going to be running 15mm adapters and so that puts the wheels at a total et of +7. +25 sits flush on mk3s I believe. So anyway he needs some hardcore stretch to make this work. Well we are having a really hard time finding the right size tires for him, and we came up with 165-50-16s, but now we can't find them. The wheels are 16x7 and if you have suggestions for another tire size or where to get the 165s that'd be great. Idk if any of you all have 7 inch wheels, but what is 165 the appropriate tire to stretch? THANKS!!!

The 15 inch crowd stretches 165-45-15 federals on their 7" wide wheels.

You need Nankang sport NS-2 165/40/16 or the 165/45/16. They're just not available stateside and may have been discontinued all together. Things get rough for the 7"ers out there when it comes to stretch. The smallest tire I can find stateside on websites is a 185/55/16 which wouldn't even stretch.

    Goodluck

I thought a sidewall that short wouldn't look right? Are 155's an option?

        I run a 195-45-15 on my 9s and 8.5s. 45 is legit. 155s don't exist here either.

Get creative. Honestly, 15x7s are the typical setup I've seen. 16s seem to be a little tougher to do.

195/40/16 is the better size that you can find in the US for a 7" wheel
