    The C63 midsection progress moves forward at a rapid rate, now that George has dropped off his C63 until Friday.

    The new refresh of the C63 sedan looks impressive in person, even more impressive than the previous version. Everything looks beefier, and the car looks ready for its first upgrade, which should bring out the beast hidden underneath all that plasticky engine-cover business. The first thing we did upon receipt of the C63 was strap it to the dyno and get some solid baseline information to use once the midsection is complete. Don’t worry, we took video, we’ll just be releasing it in tandem with the post-install dyno video, along with our dyno charts as well.



    After leaving the C63 for the evening, we returned in the morning and went straight back to work. A few minor changes occurred between the two years of C63 we’ve worked on, so fabrication spent the morning examining exactly what needed to change between our current design and the car itself. After everything was figured out, Tom and AJ went to work on fabricating a new rear connection (to connect the midsection to the resonator box), while Craig started on the downpipes (from the stock header flanges to the midsection).





    One of the biggest issues surrounding the new C63 was the inclusion of a cross-member where there wasn’t one on the previous model. The OEM Mercedes midsection was bent just slightly upwards to accomodate for this. Since ours wasn’t, Tom and Aaron came up with a workaround. Here’s what it looked like around 1 this afternoon:



    And here’s what it currently looks like, just about two hours later. The speed at which these guys work is staggering.

    Fab is really pushing hard to make sure everything is completely perfect by our Friday deadline, and we’re currently well on schedule. Most, if not all of the tacking and placement should be done today, with the welds and brackets to get finished shortly thereafter. After that, it’s placing the O2 sensors and putting it back on the dyno to see how it did. Look forward to more on this soon!
