e28 and e34 steering arm lengths

Just off hand, does anyone out there know if the E28 and E34 steering arms (the one that bolt to the bottom of the strut/spindle housings) are interchangable? And, if so, are the E34 arms shorter than the E28's?

With the swap to rack steering the throw of the rack is less than that of the box, so if i can shorten the steering arms then I will regain some lost radius, and quicken the steering a bit.

any thoughts?
