Heres the deal. I just had a set of FK coilovers installed on my e36. A few days after driving I took it back to the shop that did the install because of rear clunking going on. They searched for 3 days looking, replacing bushings to rear brake pads to find the noise. They called me and saying it was the actual coil spring alone making the noise. My first thought was to have them take out the rear spring perch, as ive heard that the movement of the spring in the perch can clunk. The other thing I heard was "coil silencers" that wrap around the coils to prevent coil bind. Any help is much appreciated!

Rear clunking after coi install. Coil bind?

I know I've had a problem with clunking after I have to angle a steep driveway, cause then my coil comes out of my top hat. My coilovers are too small for the oem top hat so I have to lower my car slowly while I reach in my wheel well and make sure it lines up in the top hat right. This only happens in the rear but I have an Accord so it might be totally different. Just giving you an opinion on what it may be.
If you have any questions or if I need to explain better lmk.

i clunk too -- someone suggested that i get plastic washers that sit between the spring and the perch. i'm assuming they were talking about something like this: http://www.swiftsprings.com/products..._products.html
