  • Widebody Honda CR-Z (first in Europe)

    Hi Guys,

I'm James from the UK. Been a longtime lurker but finally decided to post!

    This is my 2011 Honda CR-Z ZF1.

I bought her in April 2014, with a factory fitted Mugen bodykit, grille with leds, rear wing and 17" Mugen GP's.

It wasn't long before the modding bug bit me, and I'd started to tinker with it. Just little things at first like engine dress up bolts, upgraded HID headlights,100w PIAA highbeams, polyfilled sub enclosure and a few little touches.

Then came a BLF Cold Air Intake, Spoon GE8 Intake Chamber, Tegiwa 2nd Decat pipe, Ultra Racing Strut Bar and 30mm H&R Lowering Springs. I finally had it sitting better and ran it like this for pretty much a year before I started looking into more bits for her.

Sometime around October 2015 I decided to bite the bullet and order the Wide Arches from Rexxstyling. At the same time I also ordered a J's Racing 50rr Catback Exhaust, Tein Street Flex Coilovers and 18x9.5j Whistler KR1's to fill the new arches.

    Test fitted the arches.

Put some 245/35/18's on the rims, gave a little bit of stretch.

Getting the wheels on,we quickly realised they required spacing, 20mm up front and 38mm on the rear.

With the arches sprayed and fitted, I had the grille, fog light inserts and rear diffuser hydrosipped in carbon fiber to match the newly fitted Dream Automotive Carbon Fiber Mirror Covers.

We had to cut away the stock fenders (obviously) to fitt the new arches. Here is how it sat on the lowest setting on the Tein Coilovers with the stock fenders.

Theres no going back at this point.

So this is how she is at the moment, the first Widebodied CR-Z in Europe. There is more to this build but I can't remember every little detail.

    Thanks for looking.

Damn, I knew I liked these things. Love the really clean look and the amount of Mugen goodies. If I had any suggestions, I would sell the Whistlers and go with some wide, deep lipped wheels all around. JMO. Car looks great though, keep it up!

      Thanks!

I got the Whistler's as they fit my budget at the time! At some point in the future I'll be upgrading to some wider/better wheels.

really cool car, you don't see much of these done properly
althoug i must admit some wide wheels and a bit lower would really set this car off,

i like the rear fenders, but on the front it doesn't seem to flow into the frontbumper at all. i think that's because it just stops where the bumper starts. i'd suggest making some kind of fiberglass part that allows the fender line to mold into the bumper again. just my 2 cents tho\

        keep up the good work

Wow this is really rad, keep it up man! Could use about three inches lower and some wider wheels. I could see some flatface BBS E50's with deep inner barrels on this thing.

            Cheers guys.

Regarding the front fenders, they do normally meet the front bumper and flow in to it. However, due to having the Mugen bumper they don't quite fit, so we had to cut them down. In the future I'll see about fiberglassing something up for it.

Wider wheels are on the cards, but need to build up some funds first.
